I had free tickets to the Pennsylvania Ballet this weekend so I got to see The Nutcracker for the first time since I was ten or so. A word to the wise
If you are doing any holiday shopping via Amazon this year, DO NOT buy that lame Christmas-y candle for your mother-in-law at the same time you buy a bunch of heavy books. Amazon WILL, like idiots, ship everything together without wrapping the candle (and it’s glass container) properly and said candle WILL arrive completely destroyed, leaving you with the job to return the debris to Amazon...

I learned that the hard way this morning when I was having brunch with some friends and somebody’s boyfriend asked the question, “Who is Mayim Bialik?” and I answered (faux-snottily) “The girl from Blossom. Jenna von DOY!” Not one laugh. Crickets, literally. It was a real blow to the old ego.
